SISTERS, SISTERS, THERE'S NOTHING LIKE SISTERS!
My name is Deborah Raney, but you can call me Deb. My husband, Ken, and I recently left our native Kansas and moved to Missouri to be closer to our daughters and five of our nine grandkids. I've been writing for over twenty-five years and love the writing life. Ken and I enjoy Friday morning garage sale dates, spending time with our family, and road trips in our little camper van that we named Meriwether.
Chasing Dreams is the second book in my new Chandler Sisters Novels series and explores the wonderful (and sometimes challenging) relationships of sisters. Being the oldest of four sisters and having my own sisters as best friends all my life, I've always thought it would be fun to capture the unique friendships that happen when people share your  DNA and your history from childhood. (Of course, for my own sisters' sakes, I've changed all the names and details to protect the innocent. :) )

It has been so much fun to explore sisters undertaking a business venture together, seeing how their unique talents and gifts mesh to fit the needs of the business. And the venture my Chandler sisters choose was also one of my inspirations for the series. I have loved the TV shows Fixer Upper, Home Town, and other home renovation shows like those. The metaphors such shows inspire—ashes to beauty—are rich, and you’ll see those play out in the Chandler Sisters novels.

That's me in mint green. Our Mom sewed our dresses from scratch.
Our youngest sister was a baby and asleep in the house
when this photo was taken. Kim, the little dark-haired beauty
on the right, was tragically killed in a car accident as a
21-year-old  newlywed. We all miss her still.
Like so many of my books, this series has a strong undercurrent of God's redemption: He can redeem even the worst of situations. But another recurring theme in these and many other of my books is that family members—including those related by marriage (and in this series, sisters especially) are precious friends and gifts from God. Even when we don’t always see eye to eye, we make each other better, and we can empathize and comfort each other like no one else can. Besides my sisters and sisters-in-law, I have so many other family members and dear friends who are almost like sisters to me. I include my sweet mom (who is in heaven now), my mother-in-law, and my daughters and daughter-in-law when I think of the closeness of sisters. They are a blessing from God in my life and I am so grateful for them!

I've been blessed with the BEST sisters, sisters-in-law, and mom and mother-in-law. Love them so!

My daughters and daughter-in-law are also precious blessings to me. And I love seeing the sisters enjoy each other.
