Hi! I'm Deborah Raney and I’ve been writing novels for over twenty-six years now. My favorite topics to write about are family drama and women's relationships—always with a touch of romance—since love makes the world go 'round, right? You can follow me on social media from the links right here on www.deborahraney.com. (Click the Home button to find easy access to those links.) My newest release is the third book in my Chandler Sisters Novels series, Finding Wings. Here’s a peek:

Being the youngest of three sisters isn’t always easy for Britt Chandler, especially when her older sisters have successful lives and hers is still on hold. She put everything aside to care for her dying mother, but now their mother is gone. Just as her life finally has a chance to blossom, her sister is ordered on bed rest during a difficult pregnancy, and it looks like God is again calling Britt to be a family caregiver--and nothing more.

Rafe Stuart is unable to forgive himself for a childhood mistake that had grave repercussions. And no matter how many lives he saves now as a first responder, he can’t ever seem to do enough penance to free his soul from that decades-old tragedy. There definitely isn’t room in his wounded heart for love; it’s much too dangerous.

When these two struggling souls encounter each other, sparks fly. But they’re both scared the fire that might result could destroy them--and the others around them. How can they begin to trust God to have the best for them and real purpose for their lives beyond what they’ve dreamed . . . or feared?

And speaking of sisters, as the bossy eldest of five, I probably drove my poor sisters crazy at times. My Chandler Sisters Novels were inspired by my wonderful friendship with my own sisters. I was blessed to grow up with three sisters, and because we lived on a Kansas farm eight miles from the nearest town, my sisters were my playmates and dearest friends. I’m the oldest with only a year between Vicky and me, two years between Vicky and Kim, and then our “baby” sister, Bev, came along when I was eight. (We have an incredible brother, too—the second to youngest—and I never want to leave him out! But this series is about sisters!) My family was devastated when Kim was killed in a car accident as a newlywed of only three months. But one small silver lining of her death was that we all became even closer, realizing that time is so very short.

This was before our baby sister came along when I was 8.

Of course, in writing a series about sisters, I wouldn’t dare spill any of the secrets my sisters and I share. For one thing, good stories need conflict and tension, and my sisters and I love each other too much and get along too well to make a very good story. What I have hoped to capture with Reason to Breathe, Chasing Dreams, and Finding Wings, is the special bond sister’s share—the family history they share with no one else, the lifetime friendship that goes deeper than mere friends could ever be.
My sisters are the greatest friends God could ever have given me, and some of the greatest gifts in my life.

It was fun to write about three sisters who share many of the joys and sorrows, and yes, even the quirks and annoyances, I share with my own sisters. I hope this series will make those blessed with sisters appreciate the gift they have, and those who’ve only wished for a sister to feel like they’ve gotten a taste of the joy it can be. For someone who might be estranged from a sister, I hope this story might encourage you to pick up the phone and begin the journey back to true sisterhood.
